Quality Inspector - $18/hr

Location: Novi, MI

Shift: 1st: Monday – Thursday 5 AM to 3 PM

Payrate: $18/hr

RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Work within the quality group at our Novi facility to support the Manufacturing, Production, and Quality initiatives for transmission systems and components.  
  • Utilize knowledge of inspection and measuring to perform inspections, verifying that the products are meeting design or spec requirements 
  • Keep records and communicate non-conformances to support quality initiatives and projects according to customer requirements, TS1694 or/and IATF 16949 
  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials. 
  • Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor. 
  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work. 
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database. 
  • Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs. 
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. 
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications. 
  • Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed. 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES  

  • Analyzing information, reporting research results, and documentation skills, 
  • Promoting process improvement,  
  • Proficiency in CMM programming and operation, dimensional metrology, measurement, inspection methods, and calibration. 
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  
  • Complete multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines 
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to work amongst cross-functional teams. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS  

  • High school diploma or GED required 
  • Some college or Associate’s degree preferred 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to sit.
